I am a native of Western North Carolina and have a passion for the beauty and history of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Growing up in Asheville, NC, I was spoiled by the scenery on a daily basis, but was not aware of how special my home truly was. I did not fully appreciate the mountains until after I returned home from Graduate School in Macon, GA. I could not believe that I had neglected the beauty my entire life, so I began exploring and hiking and with my new found passion for photography, I had a medium to capture the places I found.
I do not have formal photography training, I am self taught, with pointers from friends along the way and now have been published several times and won multiple awards at art shows for my work. My main inspiration is sharing the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I spend several hours a week on the Blue Ridge Parkway and venturing to locations to share with those who love the mountains, and those who cannot visit themselves.
I use techniques that allow me to use minimal post processing, and do my best to show you what I saw when I was standing there. I shoot RAW files and capture true color by setting accurate white and black points in my images.
I do around 40 art shows each year and pride myself on hard work and determination to be successful. I have been a full time artist since 2013, making a living on my passion.
